Carrier & Fixed Oils

Carrier Oils, and why do we need them?

Well, carrier oils are used for safe topical use of essential oils. With hot oils it protects the skin from burning. Using carrier oils is also a great way to extend your essential oils. You can't do a massage with 1 drop of lavender, but when you add that 1 drop to an ounce of a carrier oil, you get more topical coverage while also being safe. Even if an essential oil bottle states that it is "safe" to use without a carrier, it is still a good idea to use one anyways.

Some different carrier oils are: Fractionated Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernal Oil, and Evening Primrose Oil.

It's always a good idea to research the stability and shelf life of these carrier oils because they will go rancid after a certain time and if not properly stored.
